CANYON.MID

CANYON.MID is a MIDI file created by Passport Designs Inc. that ships with Microsoft Windows. Starting with Windows 3.1 and through Windows 98 up until Windows ME, it can be found along with PASSPORT.MID in the C:\WINDOWS\MEDIA directory where sound files used for Windows events (e.g. alert beeps, startup sounds, etc.) are stored. Since it is present on all Windows 3.1, 95, and 98 installations, it has achieved a certain degree of recognition among users, and has been used an example MIDI file in many computer publications and websites, for example the Microsoft Knowledge Base. It was also used as fanfare in some Windows Entertainment Pack games, such as Chip's Challenge.
