[edit] New Singles Chart on James Blunt article

Hi Camcallister - Nice new look to the singles chart. Only one problem, which is perpetuated from the previous chart - there were two separate releases for "High" and "Wisemen". I've absolutely no programming ability so have no idea how to fix that. I can get you the data if you can fix up the charts? What say? Risker 01:40, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ty Herndon

Nice job! Thanks for turning the worthless fan-club propaganda into a really decent article!

[edit] Singles charts

I noticed on the Sara Evans page that you have made a cropped version of the singles chart. What is the significance of this? And what is the significance of the singles chart/discography being on a separate page? I know it's not up to me, but personally, I find that irritating to have to go to a different page to the chart. The only other page I've seen that done is the Shania Twain article but I thought that was because of the page length.

[edit] US Hot 100?

I figured since you know alot about music stuff I'd ask you this.

What is up with the US Hot 100 charts? Does any music released/produced in the US chart on here that makes it's way into it or what exactly? I've noticed that no country song ever gets below the #40 mark on the US hot 100, why is this? The only exception I can find is Faith Hill's "Breathe" which made it to #2. Why is it anti-country biased? Why can't there be a US country 100 then? Faris b 06:16, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, I guess that was kind of confusing for you, I do know they have a country 100 and wasn't asking why there wasn't a second one, but what I intended to say is why do they bother having country songs chart on the hot 100 if they rarely do well on it? It seems like a mockery to me. Yes, I have found a few exceptions that made it under the top 30 but that is just a handfull of songs. The only songs that do good are those ones that are complete opposites of the ones that are in the latter portion of it, you know what I mean? So what I meant is, why not have another chart that favors country/pop ones ONLY and not everything since when those 2 genres compete with everything else, they normally don't do good for some reason.

Hope I cleared that up.

Thanks a bunch for the info, that answered everything but this. Why aren't there very many country stations nationwide? Regionally, that's another matter. We have about 6 good ones where I am and I don't pay attention to the rock stuff but I do know there are 2 classic rock ones. Is it because kids these days think being country is bad or why exactly?

Faris b 21:16, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

Hey thanks again for the info. That's reassuring because I feared it was on the decline in terms of demographics.

[edit] Top 20?

I am wondering, what is the difference between the 20 songs in the CMT top 20 and the songs in the US Country top 20? I originally thought they were one in the same but after seeing several songs that had no video reach positions within the top 20 such as Rascal Flatts' "My Wish" which was last at number 17 on the chart has no video as it was an unofficial single and has no mention on the CMT top 20, so my question is, is the CMT top 20 merely for entertainment and is separate from the real top 20 or what exactly?

PS: Sorry about adding Finding My Way Back Home to Lee Ann Womack's partial discography page, I didn't see that it was a partial list until after you reverted my edit.

Thanks,

Just a small reminder about this message incase you forgot about it. I noticed you took an extended vacation from wiki so I'm just adding this bit.

Thanks,

Thanks for the info. I was beginning to fear that I wouldn't hear back (lol). Anyway, yes, that helps alot, that is what I thought regaring the CMT top 20.

[edit] Removing tags

Please do not remove tags from images, such as you did to Image:JoenicholsIII.jpg, without resolving the underlying issue. Thanks. --Yamla 00:05, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

You said: "Hey, sorry I removed it. I honestly don't remember tagging it fair use and don't know why I did... I thought there weren't problems with uploading album covers...?"

We've recently seen that many album covers are used in violation of the license solely to depict the artist. The license itself requires a detailed hand-written fair-use rationale anyway, so the simplest thing is just to enforce that. --Yamla 00:09, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
You said: "I'm not sure I did it right, could you let me know if I did or didn't? Also, if this is ok, would it then be alright to use it in his music artist template?"
Looks good. As to the template, the problem is that each article that uses the image needs to have a fair-use rationale. You couldn't just justify it for the template, for example. It's unlikely that it would be fair-use for much more; you are permitted to use it solely to illustrate the audio recording, but not for any other uses. --Yamla 01:37, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jason Michael Carroll?

I am wondering. Who is he and why is his song "Alyssa Lies" such a big hit already? The only website which has anything on him is his CMT.com page but other than that, it's pretty scarce.

Thanks,

Faris b 07:06, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the prompt reply!

Anyway, I never heard of Amy Dalley before so thanks for that info.

Why has Emerson Drive released a new single called "Moments" so shortly afte releasing "A Good Man"?

One more thing, do you know why Gary Nichols' song "Unbroken Ground" suddenly just dropped out of radio and CMT rotation? It came out around August of this year and I only heard it for about 2 weeks then nothing about it. His website doesn't say he had any problems so I don't know what happened.

Thanks,

[edit] Edit Summary Request

I have noted that you edit without an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This is considered an important guideline in Wikipedia. Even a short summary is better than no summary. An edit summary is even more important if you delete any text; otherwise, people may think you're being sneaky or even vandalizing. Also, mentioning one change but not another one can be misleading to someone who finds the other one more important; add "and misc." to cover the other change(s). Thanks! -- Kukini 17:50, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box.
