Camphill Movement

The Camphill Movement is an international movement of therapeutic intentional communities for those with singular needs or disabilities. Unsalaried workers and their families live with people with special needs in village communities. The movement was founded near Aberdeen, Scotland by the Austrian pediatrist Karl König in 1940. It is inspired by the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner.

There are over 100 Camphill Communities in twenty-two countries around the world.

There are a number of Camphill Communities in the UK, namely Botton Village, Larchfield, Newton Dee, Beannachar, Blair Drummond, Ochil Tower, Milton Keynes, Delrow, The Mount, Sheiling School Ringwood, and Pennines Community, Glencraig (Northern Ireland), Holywood (Northern Ireland), Mourne Grange (Northern Ireland) and Clanabogan (Northern Ireland).
