Campbell Mithun

Campbell Mithun is an American advertising agency. It was founded in Minneapolis on April 1, 1933 by Ralph Campbell and Ray Mithun. Their initial clients included Northwest Bancorporation, Land O'Lakes (an account they maintain to this day) and Andersen Windows (an account lost in 2005 after 72 years.)

Their slogan for Hamm's Beer in the 1950s ("From the Land of Sky Blue Waters") was named one of the 100 greatest by Advertising Age. Other popular characters and slogans they created include "We treat you right" and "Think DQ" for Dairy Queen (an account held from 1961 to 1997), "Hey, where's the cream filling?" for Hostess, "Who knew?" (personified by Penny Marshall & Rosie O'Donnell) and "Changing for the Better" (personified by Wynonna Judd & Naomi Judd) for Kmart, "Just Plain Smart", "In Your Corner" and "You Got People" for H&R Block, "The taste you can see" for Cinnamon Toast Crunch, "Take Control with Depend" for Depend, "Freedom to be Yourself" for Poise, "Count on it" for Toro, "Oo, la, la" for Tresemmé, "Delivering a million smiles a day" for Domino's Pizza, "Brilliant!" for St. Ives, "Achieve Anything" and "Synchronicity" for KeyBank, "Without Question" for the St. Paul Cos. (now known as St. Paul Travelers), "What Works for You?" for UnitedHealth Group, "Worryproof. Timeproof" and "Long Live the Home" for Andersen Windows, "The Evolution of Shopping" for ShopNBC, "Now That's Cool" for Popsicle, the Honeynut Cheerios honeybee, and the Lucky Charms leprechan.

In 1982, William Esty & Co.(founded in April 1932) was bought by Ted Bates Worldwide, which in turn was bought by Saatchi & Saatchi in 1986. Two years later, Saatchi & Saatchi merged Esty with Campbell-Mithun to become Campbell-Mithun-Esty.

Currently called Campbell Mithun, it is part of the Interpublic Group of Companies, and is headquartered in the Campbell Mithun Tower in downtown Minneapolis with satellite offices in Irvine, California and New York City, New York.
