Camp Ranger
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Camp Ranger was a summer sleepaway camp on Silver Lake in Bethel, New York in Sullivan County. (Other camps on Silver Lake include(d) Camp Ma-Ho-Ge, Camp Hillel and Camp Chipinaw). The official Camp colors were Gray and Red. The camp operated at least from the 1940s to the late 1970s. According to both the Camp Ranger's Web Site and the Camp Chipinaw Wiki entry, it seems the camp was sold after the summer of 1978.
Camp Ranger is now the Magan Av campus of Camp Avraham Chaim Heller, a religious camp for Orthodox Jewish boys. The former auditorium of Camp Ranger became Camp Magen Av's synagogue and study hall "'Beit Midrash'" The letter to the sign to the former "Ranger Playhouse" were rearranged to become "Angel Pray house."
