Camp Oakhurst

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Camp Oakhurst is a year-round camping facility located along the scenic New Jersey Atlantic coast in Oakhurst, serving children, teens, and adults in New Jersey with various disabilities such as muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, HIV/AIDS, post-polio, etc.

This facility was first established in 1906, and has since then provided 8-week summer camp programs; the first 6 weeks are for children and teens, and the last 2 weeks are for adults. Throughout the summer as well as off-season, a year-round vacation respite is offered for adults who are coping with the long-term responsibility of looking after a disabled relative at home (or who are themselves disabled), whose family is not eligible for a respite program. 24-hour on-call nursing staff is provided as well.
