[edit] Structure

Camp Rainbow, which was previously based in Camp Madawaska, is now based in Camp Newport. The participants are inner-city teenagers ages 13-17. Camp Rainbow includes three days of canoeing trips meant to build self-esteem, teamwork, and communication skills. Although most camps held at Camp Newport are for children, there are also camps available to women, men, and families. A music camp is held every year and always invites a special guest. One notable special guest was David Catherwood. The staff for the music camp differs from the staff for other camps. One well-known music camp staff member is Brian Neve, trombonist of the Georgian Bay Symphony.

Summer activities at the camp include softball, football, zip-line, arts and crafts, street hockey, canoeing, drama, and hiking. There are many facilities, including a high ropes course, a low ropes course, several walking trails, a gymnasium, a volleyball court, a basketball court, and a tuck shop. The camp also accepts rentals throughout the summer, fall, and winter.
