Camp Morasha is a camp founded in the year 1963 as a branch of Yeshiva University. Morasha was the first Modern Orthodox camp of its kind to provide a combimation of typical camping activities with intensive religious study, incorporated both formally and informally throughout the camping day. It is located in Lake Como, Pensylvania and is currently under the management of Gotch Yuden. Alumni include Rabbi Pesach Oratz, Racheli Gross, Juliet Gerber, Grace Garfunkel, Rachel Benaim, and many more.The camp's community Rabbi is Mark Dratch. The lifegurd staff includes Rabbi Norman Lamm's two oldest daughters, Sara Lamm Dratch and Chaye Lamm Warburg.Among the most important goals we all must have is "handing down" our Jewish heritage to the next generation. That includes instilling an appreciation for Jewish learning and scholarship, in addition to reinforcing the ethical and positive attitudes inherent in Jewish life. At Camp Morasha, these stand paramount among our primary objectives. Just as important, we pride ourselves on the manner and spirit in which these meaningful goals are experienced on our campus.

Camp Morasha is located in the picturesque northeastern Pocono Mountains, adjacent to beautiful Lake Como. In addition to the synagogue complex, the 400-acre property includes a full range of recreational facilities that satisfy the varied athletic interests of our campers. This includes two large indoor gyms, a theater,a woodshop,a bakery,a horseback riding facilitey,a fishing dock, eight basketball courts, three hockey rinks, 12 tennis courts, six baseball fields and volleyball courts plus three waterfront areas situated along the 25 acre lake that allow campers to canoe, sail, row, kayak, water ski, swim and more.A Distinctive Library and Educational Complex. At the heart of our camp is the Strick Library and Bondi Educational Complex. There campers find over 9,500 volumes, including more than 4,500 volumes of Judaica. We are most proud of the positive impact that the library and its environs have on the entire camp and the total camping experience. Many of our staff and campers use it to continue studies and intellectual growth throughout the summer. We even have a "summer story and reading project" that both encourages and motivates campers to read.
[edit] A Unique Variety of Camp Programs
Camp Morasha programs are many with a particular emphasis on the fine arts. Our art, music, dance and drama departments are outstanding. Most important, they encourage campers to discover and enhance individual artistic abilities in ways that apply to the individual's Jewish and religious lifestyle. Camp Morasha has three specialized religious study programs. One is for boys attending Yeshiva high schools, another is for college students with a limited background in Jewish studies, a third is for advanced Rabbinic students from Yeshiva University. The young men in these programs spend nine hours a day pursuing their studies, and three hours in recreational activities.A Skilled Staff to Direct and Supervise.Each camp period, we accommodate more than 600 participants who are directed and supervised by a skilled, trained staff of more than 275.

This activity is a large scale compitition taking place over 3 days. There are generaly 3 teams and the war is one on a basis of a points system.

Campers include boys and girls age 9-15 in our regular camp programs, and 10th graders who spend the summer touring Israel as part of our "Sulam Morasha Israel Leadership Experience Staff Development Program." The R.C. program takes place after the Eleventh grade, with high school graduates joining our staff as junior counselors.

Camp Morasha represents an exciting and nurturing journey to an inspiring home away from home, in the great outdoors, for girls, boys and young adults. As a not-for-profit enterprise, Camp Morasha, in partnership with its parents and its dynamic and dedicated staff, constantly reinvests its human and financial resources into its campers, programs and facilities, with great dividends: a fun, spirited and formative summer for each and every camper.
We are committed to inspiring our campers to the ideology of Modern Orthodoxy, religious Zionism and the priority of mentschlichkeit, respect and love for all mankind. Camp Morasha nurtures the best in character, responsible citizenship, tolerance, leadership and religious commitment in its campers and its staff. Through its formal shiurim and its informal educational experiences, through music, drama, dance and athletics, in the lake and library, in the bunks and Dining Hall, Camp Morasha achieves its mission.
