Camp Courageous (Ohio)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Camp Courageous of Ohio is a summer camp facility located in Whitehouse, Ohio. The main purpose of the program is to foster socialization, independence, and a better life to children and teens who have various disabilities.
[edit] History
This camp was founded in the 1960s by Marty Duncan and Ray DeFrane, who wanted their disabled children to have a chance to experience an overnight camp. When no other camp in Ohio would accept their children, Camp Courageous broke ground and opened for business. At first, it has offered 2 week summer programs, but to this day, it has expanded to 11 weeks. It has also provided respites for the early and mid Fall seasons.
