The Cameroon Development Cooperation (CDC) is one of Cameroon's major exporters and employers. It was started when the British took over German plantations at the beginning of World War I.

The CDC is the largest employer in Cameroon and has helped the country in a cultural way. Most of the first workers in Cameroon worked on its plantations and So it can be said that it is the backbone of the Cameroonian society. From wages earned on these plantations, millions of Cameroonians have received an education.
