Here's the thing.

• For the Devil Fruits, the Japanese names are apparently more popular than their English counterparts. It's kind of like Goku's Kamehameha or Naruto's Hokage. It's Japanese but it's understandable. They also sort of have a kind of uniformity having being named in a two syllable word that is repeated twice. It's kind of like a musical rythm and is to easier to say than the English ones for some. Also the Japanese names aren't exactly that hard. Anyone with some basic knowledge of Japanese language would know right away that Neko means Cat and etc. In any case, Wikipedia has a page on Devil Fruits that lists both their Japanese name as well as their English counterpart so anyone who would actually explore around would find out the meaning.
• A lot of your changes don't seem to follow any specific pattern. On Kaku you use Cow Cow fruit, but on Luffy you use Gum Gum fruit. Which is it? Are you using direct translation or 4kids translation?

• • If direct translation, Gum Gum should be changed to Ruber Ruber. Gumo means literally Rubber while Gum is just a mistranslation of the Japanese name.
  • If 4kids translation, Cow Cow should be changed to something else. It has been shown that the "Official English Version" does not use Cow Cow or any other Zoan fruit naming conventions. It is clearly demonstrated in Dalton's and Lassou's fruit names.

• Your edits don't match the other One Piece articles. While you may say that you're trying to make them match other Anime articles, that is wrong. It's like trying to teach a person how to feed a Dog with Gold Fish feeding techniques on the basis that they're both pets. The same goes for One Piece articles.
• While Wikipedia is an English speaking encyclopedia, it is not an American one. Also the anime articles clearly state that most popular English form of an anime term written in English alphabet should be used.
• While Wikipedia is a neutral territory and does not use the ratings of a Dub to affect its articles, the Dub has an indirect effect on them. In a simple equation, Bad Dub equals digust. Disgust equals less usage of its terms in the net. Less usage means more usage of the Japanese original in the net. This ultimately equals it being more popular and results in the above reason.
• You say you are fan but you've only read up to East Blue part. That's pretty novice of you to be making changes to things written by people who have past that point and have more knowledge than you. I'm not a super expert on One Piece but I at least I know what you are doing is like a sailor trying to replace the captain on his first day of work.

In support to your comments, let me just add to what you've said to Geg. One point you've missed about just renaming everything from 'gumo gumo' to 'gum gum'. Things like 'Gumo Gumo Jet Gattling Gun' won't retain their orginal names in the 4Kids dub because the lesser move 'Gumo Gumo Gattling gun' is now 'Gum-Gum Rapid Fire'. Since the Jet one is a upgrade it will most likely be rename 'Gum Gum jet rapid fire'. So strictly speaking, 'Gum Gum Jet Gattling Gun' is incorrect anyway and shouldn't be on the wikipedia page for that reason (no incorrect or false information is allowed on wikipedia).

Also I should point out I'm just assuming this will be its name. 4Kids are not up to that point in the series so we cannot supply the english name at any rate. Bottom line, there is not source for Gum Gum jet Gattling Gun, but there IS one for Gumo Gumo Jet Gattling Gun. Therefore the ONLY name we can go by is the Japanese one for now... Inconsistant or not... Its the only thing we have to go by. Hell 4Kids might give it a different name altogether!

Finally, there are a lot of mistakes made by the translating team of 4Kids... Such as the usage of Mermen instead of Fish-Men along with many rewrites in the series. So our could be considered the incorrect translation of the Japanese name and wrong reguardless whether it is offical, copywrited or not. Angel Emfrbl 17:20, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
