Ted Nugents' raucous 1973 journey into the netherlands just a little bit beyond the center of his mind. Contains a few memorable tracks, most notably the title cut "Call of the Wild" and the rowdy "Pony Express" which could be considered a blistering prelude to what was still to come ("Great White Buffalo" from the next album Tooth Fang & Claw). This album revealed Ted's still blossoming knack for honing razor sharp speed metal licks, but he was already full throttle with his unkempt on- and off-stage persona. Call of the Wild can be considered a collectible if only for documenting how "The Tarzan of 70's arena rock" progressed from 60's flower power to 70's metal grunge.
