California Trail is one of the eight junior high schools in Olathe, Kansas. The school was opened in August of 1996 and sits near the border of Olathe, Kansas and Overland Park, Kansas. Their graduates go to Olathe East High School along with Pioneer Trail Junior High and Frontier Trail Junior High graduates. Grades go from 7th to 9th.

The school's mascot is the bulldog and colors are black & gold.

The feeder elementary schools are Bentwood, Pleasant Ridge, Regency Place, and Heatherstone.

The school's Science Olympiad program which has won regionals 9 out of 10 years. In April 2006, they won State and went to Nationals for the 3rd year in a row. The combined eighth and ninth grade orchestra was the first in Olathe to make KMEA, and the first to perform on PBS (February 2006).
