California Area School District

The California Area School District is a public school district serving California, Coal Center, Elco, Long Branch, Allenport, Roscoe, and West Brownsville boroughs in Washington County, Pennsylvania. The district includes one high school (grades 9-12) and one elementary/middle school (grades K-8). The district's mascot is the Trojan. Its school's colors are burgundy and gold. California competes in generally in single A WPIAL sports which include baseball, basketball, football, soccer, and volleyball.
Mission Statement:
Prepare California Area School District students to become informed, responsible, and productive individuals. Motivate students to pursue learning as a lifelong endeavor to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century.

The performance of the school district has a great reflection on the community. Especially in recent years, California has outdone many single A school districts in the region. Through new programs integrated in the elementary and middle school, student performance in both math and reading have increased tremendously in all grade levels.
