California's 7th congressional district

California's Seventh Congressional District currently covers half of Contra Costa County, Solano County and a tiny portion of Napa County. Major cities in the district include Richmond, Pittsburg, Vallejo, Vacaville and portions of Concord. George W. Bush received 32% of the vote in this district in 2004. The district has a Cook Partisan Voting Index score of D +19.

It is currently represented by Democrat George Miller, who is the Chairman of the Education and the Workforce Committee, where he helped draft President Bush's No Child Left Behind education law in 2001 and 2002.
