Caleb Avilés

Caleb Einar Avilés Reyes (born July 28, 1979 in Hato Rey, San Juan, Puerto Rico), better known plainly as Caleb Aviles, is a former singer and member of the well known boy band MDO.

Caleb Avilés demonstrated interest in becoming involved in the show business world since childhood. As a teenager, Aviles actually had a solo singing career, although he obtained little success at the time.

Avilés, who lived for many years in Wisconsin, struggled as a singer then, and he had to find work in other professions, becoming a bartender among other things. These jobs would support him financially until.

In 1994, Caleb became part of the Puerto Rican teen group Explosion under the direction of international record executive Darrin McGillis. While in Explosion he recorded the title track of there first CD "Que No Se Detenga"[1] on McGillis Records. Once the group disbanded with huge success in Latin America after promoter Darrin McGillis decided to take band mate Joel on a solo career, Caleb immediately auditioned for a job as a singer for MDO aka Menudo.

Avilés was chosen to participate in MDO, becoming the first Puerto Rican in some years to join the formerly all-Puerto Rican band. In MDO, he joined Abel Talamantez, Didier Hernandez and Pablo Portillo. He substituted Troy Tuminelli in the band.

After only one CD with MDO, (the English release "Piece of Heaven"), Caleb Aviles left the band in 2002, surprising many of his fans. Some admirers suggested managerial problems with Edgardo Diaz, as Talamantez had left the group a few months before Aviles did also because of managerial problems with the band's director.

Aviles has led a quiet life apart from show business since then.
