Cake Pull

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Cake Pull is a tradition at weddings in the Southern United States where tiny silver charms are placed inside part of the wedding cake. At some point during the wedding reception, female attendants gather around the wedding cake and simultaneously pull the charms, which are attached to a ribbon, from the cake.

The charms can be both good or bad luck, with charms representing future children, travel, marriage, or the dreaded thimble, which represents that the puller will be a spinster.
