[edit] Summary

An XK10 Club variometer manufactured by Cair Aviation, a popular type for use in gliders in the United Kingdom. This example is currently reporting a climb rate of just over 3 knots. The glider variometer is more sensitve than a power airplane variometer by a factor of 2x or 3x. The knob (near the 10) is to change the volume of the audio indication of lift or sink. In this way the pilot can "hear" rather than see his rate of climb which is safer.

I took the liberty of putting it on commons under the same name (to be able to use it on a da:-page). Poul G
