Caithness General Hospital

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Caithness General Hospital is an NHS Highland hospital in Wick, Caithness, Highland, Scotland.

In 2003 a review of maternity services by NHS Highland raised the possibility that these services at Caithness General would be down-graded from obstetrician-led to midwife-led. This review provoked strong protests from local residents and councillors. In December 2005, however, perhaps as a result of local protests, it was announced that the review was to be disregarded and that new recommendations included the recruitment of three permanent obstetricians for the hospital, instead of locum consultants currently in position.
