"Cairo, Illinois" is a song from the 1974 musical film, Huckleberry Finn based on the book by Mark Twain. It was sung by Jeff East who played the part of "Huck" and Paul Winfield who played the part of "Jim the slave". It is sung as the twosome travel by river raft toward their respective new lives. It is about their hope and aspiration to reach the Free states and start a new life. The song was written by the Sherman Brothers.
