The Cairns Cyclones were a rugby league team that competed in the Queensland Cup competition from 1996-2000. After their great first year in 1996 when they made the Preliminary Finals, they dropped back as far as 12th. Due to a lack of local support from both people and other rugby league clubs in Cairns and increasing financial trouble, they withdrew from the Competition.
It has been proposed that Cairns-based team, to be known as the Cairns Cowboys, be entered into the Queensland Cup competition in 2008.
