Caffarelli

Gaetano Majorano (March 8, 1710 - July 4, 1783), an Italian castrato and opera singer, who took his stage name Caffarelli from Domenico Caffaro, his teacher and patron.
Caffarelli often performed at Teatro di San Carlo in Naples and was a rival of Gioacchino Conti (Gizziello). Caffarelli played the title role in the premiere of Handel's opera Serse, a role famous for the renowned aria "Ombra mai fu."
