Caenlochan

A small glen in the Grampian Mountains of Scotland. Caenlochan lies to the east of Glas Maol and at the head of the River Isla. The glen forms part of a 759-hectare (1876 acres) National Nature Reserve established in 1986.
Caenlochan Glen is an area of outstanding natural heritage value. Under EU Natura 2000 legislation it is a Special Area of Conservation for botanical reasons, containing plant communities found nowhere else in the UK. It is also a Special Protection Area for birds including the dotterel.
Deer densities in the Caenlochan area are among the highest in Scotland and deer herds of over 1000 animals are regularly seen throughout the year.
