Caddie Woodlawn is an Newbery medal winning book by Carol Ryrie Brink, and illustrated by Trina Schart Hyman. It is about a girl living in the area of Downsville, Wisconsin in the United States, and her experiences with the nearby Indians. It was written in 1935. The sequel to the book, Magical Melons, continues the story of Caddie and her family. At the end of the book Caddie's dog Nero returns.
