[edit] Biography
Anders Odden and Ole Bjerkebakke founded Cadaver in 1988. They were later joined by bassist René Jansen and in 1989 the trio released the "Abnormal Deformity" demo. The demo attracted the attention of Carcass members, Bill Steer and Jeff Walker, who signed the band to their Earache imprint label, Necrosis. The subsequent album, Hallucinating Anxiety was released in 1990 as a split with the Carnage album Dark Recollections. Shortly after the album's release, René Jansen was replaced by Eilert Solstad. In 1992, the band released their second album, titled ...In Pains. Dissension within the band would cause the band to fold in 1993.
In 1999 the band was resurrected by Odden, who went by the name Neddo. He gather three new musicians, and started to use the band name Cadaver Inc. The foursome, now including Czral, Balvaz and Apollyon recorded the album Discipline which was released in February 2001. A tour followed in support of Morbid Angel and Extreme Noise Terror. Accompanying the album was a website that sold alibis for murders. This website attracted too much attention and hence the original name was restored. Their final album was then released in 2003 titled Necrosis. The band decided to split up in 2004. Shortly thereafter, Anders rejoined synth-rock outfit Apoptygma Berzerk for the recording of You and Me Against the World, which had many top-10 singles in Europe, and subsequent touring. Upon receiving a once-in-a-lifetime invitation to join Celtic Frost on their 2006 world tour, Anders left Apoptygma Berzerk, and is now Celtic Frost's second guitarist.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Around even before the infamous Norwegian Black Metal scene took a hold on the world of extreme Metal, the bizarre three piece Cadaver had made an impression by releasing two distinctive, difficult albums by the turn of the Nineties incorporating what was a unique mixture of the avant garde and the more recognisable Death Metal influences around at the time.
Formed by Anders Odden (formerly of Slaught and the fledgling Black Metal act Baphomet) on guitar and Ole Bjarkebakke on drums and vocals in Fredrikstad in the autumn of 1988, the band really took shape when bassist Rene Jansen joined up in February 1989. By August the band had unleashed the 'Abnormal Deformity' demo, gaining them underground notoriety and also bringing them to the attention of Carcass members Bill Steer and Jeff Walker, who signed the band to their Earache imprint Necrosis.
In late 1988 the band began work on the Necrosis debut 'Hallucinating Anxiety', emerging with the resulting full length in January 1990. Recorded on a four track in in cellar in producer's Ketil 'Kaellen' Johansen's house, the release did not see the light of day until November 1990 and included unbelievably a trombone on one track, betraying their Celtic Frost/avant garde influences. The album sleeve was suitably Death Metal, featuring a maggot encrusted brain set alight. The album was also issued on a split CD together with the landmark Carnage album 'Dark Recollections.' Upon the album's release Rene Jansen quit to be replaced by Eilert Solstad, beginning on electric bass but soon switching to his favoured double bass instrument.
May 1990 saw the addition of a second quitarist in Espen Solum, who eventually left the band in September 1991 and left the band as a trio once more. Gigging around Norway saw them play with a variety of acts including Entombed, Therion and Darkthrone. In 1992 the band switched to Earache Records proper and in April of that year entered Rhythm Studios in England to record the follow up album '...In Pains.' Again using 'Kaellen' as producer, the album was as bizarre as the debut.
Cadaver resurfaced as Earache act Cadaver Inc, recording one album 'Discipline.'
