[edit] Episode recap

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Jon’s friends loan him their cabin up in the mountains for the weekend, so he drives Garfield and Odie up there. After arriving, Garfield complains about the lack of modern conveniences; then he opens the cupboard to find it bare. Jon decides to drive down to a nearby market to buy food.

While Jon is at the market, the grocer tells him that a blizzard is supposed to come. Jon then tries to beat the blizzard back to the cabin, but he doesn’t, and Garfield and Odie are snowed in. Furthermore, a road block obstructs him from traveling back to the cabin in his car, so he leaves on foot with the groceries. Meanwhile, Garfield is lamenting about starvation, and he remedies this by eating pictures of food from a cookbook. Odie continually paws at the door in the hope that Garfield will let him outside; Garfield keeps telling him that he can’t go anywhere because of the blizzard, but he eventually does lets him out. Odie then shows him a drive-thru lasagna restaurant, and when Garfield runs up to the window, the attendant tells him they’re closed.

Garfield and Odie go back into the house, and Garfield resumes his starvation rant as he walks right past Jon, who is cooking dinner. After a few moments, Garfield notices Jon, and he is relieved until Jon tells him that he’s cooking southern fried pig’s liver with chocolate sauce. Garfield decides he’s not that hungry, and he goes back to the cookbook to resume eating pictures.

Spoilers end here.

[edit] Trivia

  • The employee at Luigi’s Drive-Thru Lasagna Palace said that the restaurant was closed even though the drive-up window was still open.

[edit] Quotes

Grocer: (You’ve) got enough food here for a small army.
Jon: [To himself] Small army, huh? That’s not enough for Garfield. [To grocer] Let me know when I have enough for a large army.

Garfield: I’ll never see Jon again; I’ll never taste lasagna again; I’ll never see Nermal again…okay, so things aren’t all bad.
