C62 is a type of 4-6-4 steam locomotive built by the Japanese National Railways. The name consists of a C for the three sets of driving wheels, and 62, being the 62nd C type locomotive.

These were the largest and fastest steam passenger locomotives to run in Japan, and hauled the Tsubame express on the Tōkaidō main line between Tokyo and Osaka. Forty nine were built from 1948 to 1949. The last service ended in 1973.

The most celebrated type of Japanese steam locomotives, a C62 is featured in the manga and anime Galaxy Express 999. The train in the series is numbered C62-50.
