C. David Baker

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

C. David Baker is the 4th commissioner of the Arena Football League.

David Baker started in the league as the owner of the Anaheim Piranhas. The team folded during his tenure as Commissioner, and he dedicated himself fulltime to the position.

One of his more imposing features is his size - 6 feet 9 inches tall and around 350 pounds, making him, literally, the biggest commissioner in American sports. He was a power forward at UC-Irvine from 1971-75 and played two seasons of professional basketball in Europe. Later, Baker attended Pepperdine University School of Law where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review. He is a former Mayor of Irvine, California.

He likes to say "thank you" to AFL fans. His son is Sam Baker of the University of Southern California Trojans.
