C2 Educational Centers, Inc. began in 1997 in a Harvard University dormitory room in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States as a home-based tutoring service. C2 was founded by a Harvard graduate, David J. Kim. After establishing its first physical center in Maryland in 2000, the company quickly expanded across the East coast, now boasting 100 locations in eleven states across the country.

[edit] History

For almost ten years, C2 Education has been helping students across the country raise their GPA and master the SAT through individualized instruction.

C2’s highly researched learning system is the first to fully assesses a both a student’s academic needs and his or her relative mastery of study skills. With this information, C2’s instructors are able to tailor a different curriculum to each individual student’s needs. In this way, each and every student is guaranteed to experience results.

In early 2006 C2 relocated its corporate headquarters to Johns Creek, Georgia. Georgia high school students’ SAT scores showed a marked increase, raising the state’s nationwide standing from 48th to 45th.

"Our goal is to break the top thirty within the next three years," said C2 president David Kim.

[edit] Community

C2’s mission is to "Improve Education Everywhere," and its staff believes that this goal can only be achieved by working side-by-side with area schools.

In addition to test preparation, subject tutoring, and study skills instruction, C2 engages in educational partnerships with local schools, which include SAT workshops, diagnostic testing for assessment, and financial contributions to school programs.

Recently, C2 held its first Georgia SAT presentation at Chattahoochee High School. The event was an unqualified success, with hundreds of students attending and reporting significant success due to C2’s SAT instruction and strategies. C2 has since been contracted to host such events at numerous schools statewide.

In Washington D.C., C2 has partnered with the Latin American Youth Organization to offer a ten-week SAT preparation course this spring to underprivileged children.

C2 is also an approved No Child Left Behind provider.
