Byron Mitchell

Byron Tarone Mitchell (born October 31, 1973 in Orlando, Florida) was an American boxer in the super middleweight division. Known as "Slama from 'Bama", Mitchell had a successful career and captured a world class title twice.

He turned pro in 1996 and captured the WBA Super Middleweight Title from Frankie Liles in 1999. He drew with Bruno Girard later that year and lost the title to Gerard the next year. He recaptured the belt the next year by beating Manny Siaca and defended it against Julio Cesar Green before losing in 2003 to Sven Ottke. Later that year he lost to Joe Calzaghe and retired from boxing.
