Byron Embry (born September 5, 1976 in Richmond, Kentucky) is an American baseball player currently in the Seattle Mariners farm system. Embry throws right and bats right. He attended college at Indian Hills Community College, Ottumwa.

Embry was originally drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 35th round of the 1996 amateur draft. Despite respectable numbers Embry never made it past High-A Myrtle Beach and was out of the Braves system on March 23 of 2000.[1]

In 2000 Embry played with the New Jersey Jackals of the Northeast League, with a 4.45 ERA in 32 games, with 70 strike-outs and 31 walks. Embry joined the Lincoln Saltdogs of the Northern League for the 2001 season, playing 11 games. Embry played with the Gary Railcats for 2002, and then played with Gary and the Joliet Jackhammers in 2003. Embry rejoined the Saltdogs for 2004. In 42 games he had a 1.46 ERA (.61 ERA in June[2]), 90 strike-outs, 13 walks, and 10 saves. [3]

Emry signed with the Kansas City Royals organization for the 2005 season and was assigned to the AAA Omaha Royals. He played in 16 games in Omaha before an arm injury. Later released by the Royals, he rejoined the Lincoln Saltdogs for six games.

Embry started 2006 with the Kansas City T-bones of the Northern League, playing 29 games with a 1.27 ERA, before being picked up by the Seattle Mariners and assigned to the Double A San Antonio Missions where he worked as a reliever. By August, Embry had taken over closer duties for the team. He finished the season with a 2.31 ERA and 5 saves.

It is unclear if Embry will be brought back by the Mariners or whether he will go to Spring Training with another team. Embry played for Leones del Caracas during the winter until a family emergency caused him to leave the team[4].
