BWG are a major Irish retail franchise owner, owning the rights to a number of major retail brands in Ireland, including SPAR, Mace and the ValueCentre cash and carry. They own 115 of Ireland's SPAR stores outright, and have nearly 300 operated under franchise.

In March 2004 they had an €35,000,000 bid for ADM Londis rejected. This deal would have made BWG the largest owner of franchise stores in Ireland, overtaking Musgrave.
