BVN
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
BVN or BVN-TV (het Beste van Vlaanderen en Nederland; the best of the Netherlands and Flanders - also called: het Beeld van Vlaanderen en Nederland; The image of the Netherlands and Flanders) is a public television channel for Dutch and Flemish viewers all over the world. It is a cooperation between the Dutch and Flemish public television networks this means the channel only broadcasts in Dutch. BVN-TV started as Zomer-TV (Summer-TV) in 1996 with programming from The Netherlands exclusively, after which BVN was established as a company. Originally the acronym BVN stood for Beste Van Nederland but since the Flemish Region contributes financially and programs of Flemish public broadcaster VRT are shown, BVN now caters to Dutch and Flemish viewers. BVN has grown out as a major television channel which can be viewed worldwide, gaining more countries to broadcast each year.
In March 2007 BVN changed its schedule from 3 times 8 hour-programming to 2 times 12 hour-programming, giving more room for popular Dutch evening shows, such as "Pauw & Witteman" and "De Wereld Draait Door".
