[edit] Kalmyk people

Once you've added the text, and click "save page", you're done. If you watch it it will show up on your watchlist. Try to make sure that your version respects Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View Policy.

Calmouk is entitled to his/her opinion, but when he/she makes claims in articles, she should back it up with references. This goes for you too. I'm not sure which one of you is correct on this matter, but I suggest that both of you try to find sources that back up your claims.

If you think Calmouk will edit the article to reflect her POV (Point of View), try working it out with him/her. I'm not taking any sides on this conflict, and I suggest that both of you contribute to make the article reflect a Neutral Point of View. --Khoikhoi 06:08, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Regarding the Kalmyk, the term Eurasian is not only an ethnic term, but also a term that implies a geographic region and as the Kalmyk can be found throughout Eurasia they qualify. Their ethnic origins are given as Mongol so that should suffice as to who they are by ancestry. I put in a lot of references actually including one on Inner Asia which we can use if Eurasian is not to peoples' liking. Tombseye 23:15, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

The Kalmyk are considered a subgroup, but regardless the population statistics pertain to the Kalmyk and refer to the language group as Kalmyk-Oirat. I know this because the population figures match the other entries from ethnologue and BBC News. The article doesn't say they are synoymous at any rate. Tombseye 23:56, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] How to revert

Hey Buzava,

Just wanted to teach you how to revert articles if you didn't know already. Take for example, the Kalmyk people article. Go to the history tab of that page (it's right next to the "edit this page" button). Once you're there, you'll see something that looks like this:

# (cur) (last) 04:28, 23 February 2006 Calmouk (Are you blind, Khoikhoi? It is an edit, but not revert. This version includes ALL fresh contributions by Buzava, plus deleted sections, plus my new contributions.)
# (cur) (last) 03:57, 23 February 2006 Khoikhoi (I CHECK goddmanit - add in the info that you think was deleted - STOP REVERTING)
# (cur) (last) 03:47, 23 February 2006 Calmouk (Khoikhoi, can you just compare versions? And then decide who reverts and who deletes? Or you are too lazy to do simple comparison?)
# (cur) (last) 03:37, 23 February 2006 Khoikhoi (if there's an error, fix it, don't just revert)
# (cur) (last) 03:32, 23 February 2006 Calmouk (Citing Gibbon is speculation now? Seems like some Russian Wikipedians want to cite "Short History of Communist Party" only)
# (cur) (last) 20:08, 22 February 2006 Buzava (→Religion - Are you happy Calmouk????)

Click on what I bolded. Once you're there, click on the "edit this page" button again. You'll get a message that says:

"You are editing a prior version of this page. If you save it, any changes made since this version will be removed."

Ignore it and click "save page". --Khoikhoi 04:54, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Kalmyk Brides and Grooms.jpg

If the picture was taken during the tsarist era, how can Template:PD-USSR apply? And concerning Image:Saksyusn Sune Monastery 1996.jpg, I guess not finding a copyright notice does not mean an image is free.—Wikipeditor 14:35, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Kalmyk Temple Complex.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Kalmyk Temple Complex.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 21:02, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Kalmyk_Encampment.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Kalmyk_Encampment.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:
