Buy side

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Buy side is a financial term used in trading.

Buy side refers to firms which buy and sell large amounts of stock in relatively few transactions. To be precise, the "buy-side" refers not to the buyers of financial securities and derivatives, but to those of exchange services. Fund managers or insurance companies are typical buy side firms.

Buy side firms do not have direct access to stock exchanges, but trade through Sell side firms.
