"But I Didn't Shoot the Deputy" is the third episode of season one of the television sitcom Married... with Children. The title is a reference to the song "I Shot the Sheriff".

After a number of break in's around the Neighbourhood Al gets a Gun for Protection while Marcy and Steve prefer the more Humane way of protection and get a Guard Dog. But when mistaken for a Burgular Al shoots the dog and has to explain it to Marcy and Steve who are less then happy with Al.
