Bustos Media LLC

Bustos Media L.L.C. was founded in July 2003 by John Bustos and his brother, Amador Bustos, with investments from Alta Communications, Boston; Providence Equity, Providence, R.I.; and Opportunity Capital, Fremont, Calif[1]. The Sacramento-based Bustos Media, a private broadcasting company specializing in Spanish language radio has over 150 million dollars in private equity[2]. “Amador Bustos has made a fortune, and built two radio empires, catering to the tastes of America’s Spanish-speaking population [3].

The brothers were raised in Redwood City, California and attended local schools. Their parents were immigrants from the city of Aguililla, Michoacan Mexico. Amador Bustos was listed as one of the most Influential Hispanics of 2005 [4] for his success in business and for his growth/influence in the Hispanic radio media.

In 1992, Amador and his youngest brother, John (Johnny), along with $3 million dollars in investor money launched Z-Spanish Radio Network Inc and acquired 32 radio stations[5]. In 2000, the chain was sold for $475 million dollars [6].

In May 2006, Bustos Media gained approval from the Federal Communications Commission and will launch a Spanish-Language television station in Milwaukee [7]. Amador Bustos has 25 radio stations across the U.S. and will now venture into the television arena.
