Bus Mertes

Bernard "Bus" Mertes (born October 6, 1921) was the head football coach at Kansas State University from 1955 to 1959. His record at Kansas State was 15-34-1. After being fired from Kansas State following the 1959 season, he served as the head football coach at Drake University from 1960 to 1964, where he improved his career record to 42-53-1.

Mertes attended the University of Iowa, where he was a star running back.
