[edit] Boundaries
The Bury South constituency covers the towns of Radcliffe, Whitefield and Prestwich, a notable Jewish area. It also strangely includes the Bolton area of Breightmet, which borders with Bury. The name of the seat is somewhat misleading; it does not contain any areas of the town of Bury itself, but those towns in the south of the borough. It has swung strongly in Labour's favour since they won it back in 1997.
[edit] Members of Parliament
- 1983—1997: David Sumberg (Conservative)
- 1997—current: Ivan Lewis (Labour)
