[edit] History
For many years, Burnden housed Burnden Park, the home of Bolton Wanderers. The area was described as a ghost town after the stadium, the Normid superstore and the greyhound track closed in quick succession.
[edit] Transport
Manchester Road is one of Bolton's main roads and serves the key route between Burnden and Bolton town centre. Numerous bus routes serve the area such as the number 8 which runs between the town centre and Manchester.
[edit] People
Many people in Burnden come from ethnic minorities[citation needed] and Bolton itself is the friendliest town in the country[citation needed], yet Burnden is one of the more deprived wards.[citation needed]
[edit] Services
The area has recently undergone major redevelopment, and numerous retail stores and services have now been established, including a popular ASDA supersore, a JJB fitness club, a Carphone Warehouse store and a Subway (restaurant) outlet.
