[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello Bungalowbill, welcome to Wikipedia!

I noticed nobody had said hi yet... Hi!

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

You might like some of these links and tips:

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Wikipedia Boot Camp, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing! -- Alf melmac 22:21, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding 66.159.133.202

That ip does seem to be a repeating source of junque. Unfortunately no one has been reporting them to admins who can block it. I recommend that when you see obvious vandalism from that source (or from anywhere else!), head on over to WP:AIV and follow the instructions for adding an alert. I believe you will be pleased with the speed and effect of alerts placed there. Best, --Flawiki 14:03, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

The alert you place can be as brief or verbose as you wish. The simplest way to use that page is to edit the Alerts section and add
* {{IPvandal|66.159.133.202}} --~~~~
to the last entry. Thanks for your help in keeping WP useful --Flawiki 14:10, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Famous synesthetes

Hi Bungalowbill, I've read over your comments, and I think that you're right about adding Pharrell and Rollo Armstrong. Most important is that you have clearly made a good faith effort to find second, corroborating sources, both of them. One citation is a little weak, but in the end, perhaps we should move them up. You're also right that it might be hard to get additional confirmation. However, I think that your concern about NOR might be misplaced here, since an interview would be citable, as it could be quoted directly, and would be available in paper copy, etc for verification. It's true, though, that it isn't publicly available, so it would be less than ideal. What I propose is that we put the two of them up, and then add a note saying that we would like additional quotes to corroborate this, so if anyone has any, please add them to the talk page.

About dates, yes, I think it would be good. I assume a lot of them have these dates already on their pages, so it should be pretty easy.

Finally, about spelled, and spelt, I looked it up, and it seems that both are accepted on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:List_of_spelling_variants#S Some web sources suggest that spelled is more common in the US, while spelt is more common in the UK, but it doesn't seem to be a hard and fast rule, even between the countries. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Pharrell.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Pharrell.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Image:Pharrell.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Pharrell.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I have tagged Image:Chad Hugo.jpg for the same reason. —ShadowHalo 06:05, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Since anyone can take the picture (it doesn't have to come from an individual user), unreasonable often means that the person is a recluse like J. D. Salinger or Osama bin Laden, though I somewhat disagree with this and feel that it is unreasonable when a person simply does not make public appearances. However, both of the Neptunes are still active in music and make public appearances, so people at these events are able to create images. —ShadowHalo 22:15, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
