Bunta Sugawara (菅原文太 Sugawara Bunta) is a Japanese actor born on August 16, 1933 in Miyagi, Japan. Sugawara, a very famous actor in Japan, is known to many people as Ken Takakura's rival.

Sugawara's debut came in the 1956 Toho film "Aishu-no machi-ni Yuki-ga Furu". He starred in movies by the Japanese studios Shintoho, Shochiku and Toei.

Throughout his career, Sugawara appeared in almost 200 feature films, the most famous being Kinji Fukasaku's five-part yakuza epic Battles Without Honor and Humanity.

He is also known for playing Kamaji in Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi, and is also known for playing "Ged" in Gedo Senki.
