Bunker Hill Community College is a two-year college located in Charlestown, Massachusetts, which is a neighborhood of Boston. It is an urban campus with a very diverse student body of over 7,000, and is part of the Massachusetts community colleges network. A secondary campus is located in Chelsea, Massachusetts, and several satellite locations are found in different parts of Boston.
The college opened in 1973 with the Charlestown campus, on the spot of a former state prison and in vicinity of Bunker Hill--site of the Battle of Bunker Hill during the siege of Boston in the Revolutionary War.
In recent years, the institution has rapidly gained recognition in the city, the state and beyond due to its graduates successfully transferring into prestigious programs elsewhere, as well as hailed for its innovative distance learning methods and workforce education.
The college was featured in the movie Good Will Hunting, as the location where Robin Williams' character teaches.
