A bunk is a bed or other place for sleeping, particularly a narrow bed built like a shelf into or against a wall, as in a ship's cabin, or several like beds stacked over one another known as a bunkbed. These enable people to sleep in a high density fashion, using minimal floor space.

Derived from this the verb "to bunk" carries the connotations of sleeping or having sex.

Bunk (slang) can also be used as a shortened version of bunkum, mainly in the United States. A typical usage would be "That class was totally bunk."

Bunk can also be used to denote a state of being, or the feeling of being. As in "That was bunktastic!", or, "Bunkticity!". [citations needed]

Bunk is also a term used in the lumber industry to describe 128 boards of a given length. Example: "I need a bunk of 2x4's". [citations needed]

Bunk is also used in the farming industry referring to, a 'Feed Bunk', something that also is "built into" a structure, ie: a barn, or feeding trough. [citations needed]
