Bulla quoyii Gray, 1943 |
Bulla quoyii, or the brown bubble shell, is a gastropod mollusc of the family Bullidae, endemic to New Zealand. It is found around the North Island, common on intertidal mudflats in sheltered situations associated with eel grass.
The shell is moderately large, ovate-cylindrical, of light yellowish-brown and densely marbled in reddish-brown. The distinguishing features are the elongated shape without a median outer lip concavity, presence of spiral striations around the base, and a moderately wide apical cavity showing spiralling of the suture within.
Height is up to 48 mm, and width 29 mm.
