Bull Pen
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bull Pen is the name of the bleacher section behind the north end zone in Reliant Stadium, the home field of the Houston Texans franchise of the National Football League. It is the designated fan section for the team.
[edit] Purpose
The fans in the Bull Pen interact directly with the action on the field and help to create and implement fan traditions, songs, chants and other elements of the game day experience to create a positive atmosphere for the team and everyone in attendance at the game. Fans in the Bull Pen are encouraged to stand throughout the game, sing, cheer and otherwise support the team in an enthusiastic manner.
[edit] Traditions
Fans in the Bull Pen have created a number of traditions since the team's inception. Among them are:
- Marching into the stadium with the Pep Band prior to the game starting.
- Holding up Giant Texans Jerseys while the visiting team players are announced.
- Shouting Texans players last names during our team announcements.
- Cheering Houston...Texans! after player announcements.
- Turning their backs on the opposing team after they score.
- Gathering as a group for tailgating in the Blue Lot and conducting the Bull Pen Toast every game.
- Traveling to see the Texans play on the road as a group.
[edit] Organization
A small group of Bull Pen members meet with the Houston Texans staff on a regular basis to talk about how to maximize the overall game experience for everyone. Members brainstorm on how to start traditions and how to spread the word to all of the sections included in the Bull Pen.
