Building Service Employees International Union

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Building Service Employees International Union is the original name of the Service Employees International Union.

The Building Service Employees International Union (BSEIU) was chartered by the American Federation of Labor (AFL) in 1921. Seven local unions joined together to create BSEIU. But the union was dominated by the Chicago Flat Janitor's Union, building service workers who lived for free in the basements of the apartment buildings where they worked.
