BuildBot is a software development continuous integration tool which automates the compile/test cycle required to validate changes to the project code base. It began as an alternative to the Mozilla project's Tinderbox which is easier to install and maintain.

BuildBot is written in Python on top of the Twisted libraries.

As of May 2006 the self-test logic covers SCM integration with CVS, Arch, Bazaar, Darcs, and SVN. It is also known to be used in conjunction with Monotone.
