Talk:Buffy Waltrip

Right now this article does not feel encyclopedic. It makes great claims, without providing references to back them up. It also says highly POV things like about the woman's "attractiveness". This article needs to have solid sources, and it needs to be written in an encyclopedic tone. When I've added tags to this effect, they just keep getting removed by an anonymous editor. I've re-added the tags, but if they get removed again, stronger action may be required. --Elonka 22:46, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
- (pasting message from User_talk:Elonka): Hey, you said see the talk page but I can't find anything about it. I was just wondering what "tone" the page about Buffy should be written it? I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to do. And the source for the page is written at the bottom and there are no other sources. I know Buffy personally and that's how I got my information.
- Also, I have a question. There is a user who has been going around to every related nascar page and basically saying buffy got everything she wanted in life because she is pretty and she is a trophy wife and blah blah blah. They are very bitter against her and also wrote lies about stuff that happened between her and her husband. Is there anything that can be done about that? Thank you. 68.163.142.76 (talk • contribs)

- Definitely. The main thing to keep in mind, is that on Wikipedia, "Personal knowledge and interviews" are not allowed as a source. The only information that can go into any Wikipedia article, is that information which has already been published elsewhere. So, this is both good and bad. It's bad, in that the "personal knowledge" information which has been added to the Buffy Waltrip article all has to be removed. It's good, since any bitter comments that other people may have been adding about Ms. Waltrip, can also be removed on the spot.
- The best way to proceed, is (1) remove all information, in both this article and anywhere else where Ms. Waltrip's name is used, that does not come from a published source; (2) Provide a list (either here or in a "References" section in Ms. Waltrip's article) of all published sources where her name has appeared; (3) add information to the Wikipedia article from those sources. You may also wish to read the policies at Wikipedia:Verifiability, Wikipedia:Autobiography, and Wikipedia:Biographies of living people. And if you have any questions, let me know! --Elonka 16:43, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

- I am not the one who runs MikeyPower.com and that is what I used as a referance. I used that page for what I wrote with permission and wrote at the end that's where I got it. If you go to that site it provides all the links to where they got their sources for the bio. It is all from stuff that has been published before in magazines, newspapers, etc. The only thing I was saying about me personally knowing her had to do with the fact that the person keeps writing lies about her and I delete them because I know they are lies but they repost them. From everything I have read, the bio on Buffy is from real sources that are allowed by wikipedia. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.163.142.76 (talk • contribs) 12:47, November 17, 2006 (UTC)
- The thing is, that you can't add information to Wikipedia and say, "This comes from a valid source, go look it up yourself." You have to add the information and ensure that the source is included as well. If the valid source isn't listed on the Wikipedia article, then the information shouldn't be listed either. --Elonka 19:40, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
