Portal talk:Budapest

It's nice. Maybe it would be better to have a different colour combination in the headings; white on lightblue is not the easiest to read. The first picture is not the best choice, this shade of blue doesn't look good with the different blue of the headings; also, the picture is not constracted enough, the white of the two side-buildings melts into the background and in this small size it looks like those Chinese temple gates. Also, some official symbol of the city (flag, coat of arms, whatever) should be shown.
How often will the content be updated? User:NCurse knows a lot about portals, he can convert it to the currentyear/currentweek system if you want, and it can automatically update the portal with pre-written stuff.
btw LOL… I originally planned Miskolc to be the first Hun city to have its own portal… you're lucky that I'm such a lazy b*** with so little time ;-)
Anyway, good luck with the portal – it seems that for a while you'll be the only maintainer of it; I couldn't find enough participants even for the Hungary portal :-)

- Recently I didnt have much time (see my late answer :-) )and wont have in the near future either, and anyway it's not my portal, not even that of my home city so feel free to make whatever changes you want
- Once again, due to the lack of time I can't browse through all the Bp-related articles to rate them, so I think we should collect them in one place and set the status of some to featured article and/or rate them by completeness like 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%. Then the best articles could get in spotlight as the 'Featured article of the month' :-) Let's start this work here: Portal:Budapest/Articles - --Tylop 23:14, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

- I'm relieved to see that this portal is cared for, after all :-) (I was afraid you don't have time for it and wanted to suggest that we'd start a wikiproject instead, since you mentioned the main aim of the portal was to coordinate the Budapest-related work.) I think the BKV and Budapest Metro articles are pretty good (BKV was recently a selected article on Portal:Hungary).
- The green headings look definitely better than the light blue ones. Some more suggestions: the image in the selected article would look better at the left side (just like at Portal:Hungary) and maybe a longer text could be copied from the SA so that the 2 columns of the portal would be of equal length.
- It's not my home city either but its residents don't seem to care for it as much as I care for Miskolc or Villy cares for Esztergom in HuWiki :-P Are you sure you want to have a "stub" section on the Articles page? Half the articles of the Budapest category could go there...

- re the "not my portal" comment: you know, I didn't want to be the maintainer of the Hungary portal either, just designed its new look, but it seems once you touched a portal, you'll be responsible for it for the rest of your life :D to quote Burumbátor from Hungarian Wikipedia: "sorry, you're in it now!" :D – Alensha talk 23:57, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Ok I started categorizing the articles (but now it's 7 o'clock, no more cumbersome work today :-) ), if you wish to alter the look of the main page, it's easier to do it yourself rather than to tell an amateur what to do :-)
Anyway, it's time to think about the Selected article of September, and I support BKV as well (only the article, not the company :-) ), so if no one else is to join us here, we won't have to quarrel about it.--Tylop 16:55, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- I updated the selected article & found a nice picture. Can you update the Did you know? I don't really know any interesting things about Budapest (except that Vista Café is quite good for Wikipedia meetups & they have good cappuccino, but I don't think it would merit a mention on the portal.) – Alensha talk 18:40, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Buda Castle article
I began to write a history section about Buda Castle. Zello 18:16, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Available Images (and new articles)
I've kept myself busy on some Hungarian items as of late: a gallery of photos, a new article on Liberty Statue, and a new article on the Gellért Hill Cave. Regarding that last one, I am aware of about a dozen different names for that cave, of which I learned all names from natives of Budapest. Is there any agreed upon name that the article should be moved to, or do you think it's OK where it is? Köszi & szia! --Thisisbossi 04:00, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
I know it as Sziklakápolna (Rock Chapel) but I think the present title is absolutely OK. Zello 12:05, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
